I like heavy platforms as an alternative to heels—I need the added height but am not a masochist. I have a pair of Alyx Tank boots to break in, plus a cheap-o pair of Unifs that do the trick. Lately, I’ve tried to offset the tough shoe with something sweet up top—floral ’60s minis, schoolgirl kilts, pearl-button blouses—then contrast that with a chain-link choker and dirty silver hoops. It’s fun.
