If you’re asking yourself, “Is this just fantasy?” the answer is no.
20th Century Fox released a teaser trailer for “Bohemian Rhapsody” on Tuesday, giving fans a glimpse of Rami Malek as iconic Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.
The 90-second look at the film is more of a musical montage than a thorough examination of what the film entails, but at least the costumes and wigs look great and Queen’s music is as catchy as ever.
With the turmoil churning behind the scenes, however, it’s a wonder it looks as good as it does.
The film’s development process began in 2010, and several actors were considered to tackle the role of Mercury, including Sacha Baron Cohen and Ben Whishaw.
Principal production began in September 2017, with Bryan Singer at the helm, but the director was dismissed in December after his “unexpected unavailability” (the studio’s words) because of a “personal health matter” (Singer’s words).
Dexter Fletcher, who had been attached to the project as director in 2013, stepped in to complete the movie.
“Bohemian Rhapsody,” originally slated for release on Dec. 25, will now bow in theaters on Nov. 2.
